I began self-publishing my own books in August of 2010 with the publication of a gay erotica book named “First Son”. This book was about a secret services agent assigned to protecting the president’s gay son who is dealing with his own suppressed desires. Don’t worry, you couldn’t read it if you wanted to since I’ve pulled it from publication (yes, it was apparently that bad). However, the book did well during its first several months of publication which encouraged me to continue self-publishing.
Around the same time my wife, Melanie Jackson, was let go from her contract writing Scottish historical and paranormal mysteries for Dorchester Publishing in New York. She decided to join me and I began publishing her cozy mystery series. The Chloe Boston Mystery Series has proven to be her most popular series, followed by Butterscotch Jones, Miss Henry, Wendover House, Kenneth Mayhew, and Jane Blackthorn. You can find out more about these books by visiting the Melanie Jackson Home Page.
As part of my publishing efforts I also got involved in designing book covers using the free GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). You can find examples of my book covers by visiting my Wall of Book Covers.
Finally, I’ve published books on self-publishing and the GIMP called Do It Yourself: Publish on Amazon and Do It YourSelf: Book Covers. I’ve since released Udemy online video courses on self-publising and the GIMP which can be viewed on my Courses page.
